First Win in Shooting Touch Showcase

DEDHAM, MA –

In Day One of the Shooting Touch Showcase, the Huskies faced Beaver Country Day. We showed a strong defensive effort to start, pushing the ball in transition and getting easy layups. The Huskies went on a 10-0 run, with steals from Ava Perry ’27 and Abby Schrader ‘27. Elyse Ngenda ’26 was aggressive offensively, finishing the game with 19 points. New Hampton forced Beaver to take tough shots in the second quarter, keeping them to just 10 points. Casey Stores ’27 and Perry both hit a pair of threes to extend the lead before the half. Halftime score 31 – 10. The third quarter the Huskies did not have the same defensive mentality and was lax with the basketball. Beaver hit more shots, especially from the three-point line. Schrader and Ne’vaeh Buntley ’24 had strong drives to the basket in the third to keep New Hampton’s scoring. While not on the scoresheet, Shannon O’Leary ’27 gave us great minutes in this game, boxing out hard and showing strong helpside defense. Ngenda kept the team composed in the fourth quarter to secure the win 55 – 43.
