The Huskies travelled to Cushing Academy on an uncharacteristically hot October afternoon. While play was competitive from the opening whistle, with back to back scoring happening throughout the game, the Huskies were not able to string together a full 60 minutes and Cushing came out with the win on the afternoon.

Goals were recorded by three separate Huskies in only two quarters of play today. 0-0 heading into the second quarter, the Huskies answered Cushing's opening goal with their own by Julia Loughlin '24 on an offensive penalty corner. A scoreless third quarter left a productive fourth to be had.

Quickly answering Cushing's second goal at the start of the fourth, Caroline Thomas '25 confidently put away a rebound given off by Cushing's keeper. Again, Cushing answered to make the scoreboard read 2-3, in their favor. Seeing a clear lane on another offensive penalty corner, Kennedy Walker '25 put away the equilizer with less than 7 minutes to play. Unfortunately, a fluke goal with three minutes left on the clock would be the decider in the Penguin's favor and they successfully held possession for the remainder of play.

Senior Martina Pike '24 would later be awarded the game's Husky Hustler for her confidence on defense, and her great steps to ball at big moments throughout the game.

The Huskies look forward to their second contest against Proctor Academy this upcoming Saturday.
