Huskies Gain Momentum Late, Fall in OT

In their first game under the lights this season, the Huskies fought hard against St. Paul's School. While they had difficulty finding their rhythm in the first half, ultimately costing them a goal in the second quarter, their determination and grit helped them remain in it.

Coming out strong in the third quarter, New Hampton dominated possession. SPS's goalkeeper kept her team in the lead on several occasions, but a beautiful offensive corner executed by Kennedy Walker '25 and Kelsey Baker '26 put the Huskies back in contention. Play resumed primarily in St. Paul's defensive end for the remainder of the game, and any offensive advances by St. Paul's were shut down by defenseman, Catherine Gettens '24. Gettens would later be awarded our Husky Hustler on the day.

Time expired with 1-1 on the scoreboard forcing a 10 minute 7v7 OT. The Huskies advances looked promising at the start of OT, but the back and forth play caught up to them. Catching the Huskies on their heels, St. Paul's capitalized on a man up scenario and sent a beautiful reverse chip in cage for the game winner.

A disappointing end for the Huskies, but a comeback they should be proud of. The Huskies will regroup on Tuesday to prepare for a Wednesday away game at Cushing Academy.
