The Huskies faced Proctor Academy in their home opener on Kennedy Field Saturday afternoon. Excited for their second Lakes Region matchup of the season, the Huskies brought great energy and focus into warm ups. That same energy remained consistent throughout the entire game, and the Huskies were rewarded with a 2-1 victory.

New Hampton's scoring took place in the first two quarters of play. In the first quarter, the Huskies got on the board early with a great offensive read by Cara Kuczek '26. Adjusting well to a defensive shift, Kuczek '26 sent a cross to teammate Emma MacPhearson '27 at the top of the circle, who's shot was picked up and sent to the back of the cage by Kelsey Baker '26.

Starting the second half with solid momentum, the Huskies worked well together to spread the field and get the ball in their offensive 25. On their fourth offensive corner of the game, the Huskies executed a set play perfectly and Baker '26 recorded her second, and game winning, goal of the game. Baker '26 would later be awarded Saturday's Husky Hustler award for her efforts across the field.

Later, the Huskies would have a defensive breakdown that left their backline exposed. Proctor capitalized on the opportunity, but time expired before the Hornets could make a complete comeback.

The Huskies look ahead to their next Lakes Region match up on Wednesday, September 27th at Tilton School.
