Huskies Warm-Up for the Season at Berwick Jamboree

Coach Smith
New Hampton faces off against Kent's Hill, Black Rock FC, and Berwick.
On a beautiful day in Maine, the Huskies went 2-0-1 in their three 45-minute matches. In their first outing against Kent's Hill, New Hampton came out on top thanks to a wonder strike from freshman Brenna Young. Just a few minutes into her first match as a Husky, Young collected the ball a few fee outside of the box, took a settling touch towards the middle of the pitch, and fired a dipping shot into the far top corner. A great performance from the New Hampton backline kept Kent's Hill off the scoreboard and the game finished 1-0. Senior captain Zola Braswell played the first half in goal with sophomore Sophia Hausberger played the second. The Huskies were quickly back onto the pitch for their next match against Black Rock FC. It took less than 10 minutes for sophomore forward Ally Prentice to bag a hat trick and put New Hampton up 3-0. Excellent support from Husky midfield on captains Lindsey Duggan and Anna Shelden along with junior Sam Rivet controlled the game and caused constant problems for the Black Rock defense. Braswell and Hausberger combined for another shutout as the Huskies earned their second win on the day. New Hampton faced host Berwick Academy in their final match of the day. After goals from Prentice and Duggan saw the Huskies go up 2-0, Berwick fought back to snag 2 goals in the closing 10 minutes to earn the draw. Both teams saw a flurry of chances in the closing minutes, but neither could get the game winner. New Hampton faces The Governor's Academy in their final scrimmage before their home opener against Brewster Academy on September 18th.
