Huskies can't mark their home turf

New Hampton played a rematch against Lakes Region rivals Proctor on a cool damp Friday afternoon. Even though there was no bus to get off of, the Huskies seemed to be somewhere else and allowed Proctor two quick goals to start the game. It was an uphill slog from there through the first half as Proctor's shots were falling and ours were missing wide. There were some highlights on defense as J.R. '18 continued his excellent play turning attackers away from the goal and forcing turnovers. These defensive plays led to decent transition opportunities but complacent Huskies stopped moving their feet and moved the ball around the goal without pushing the play to score. When the play did result in a shot, it was often wide to give credit to the goalie, he stepped up and made some big saves. The offense stagnated until after half time at which point some shots started falling and the game became close. As the teams traded goals, the pressure crept up as the momentum was clearly up for grabs. Unfortunately, some poorly timed penalties put Proctor on the advantage and allowed them to put some padding to their lead and run the clock down. New Hampton looks to put this loss behind them as we look to next week and the final games of the season.
