The Huskies lost a tough battle to Holderness School on Saturday 6-3 in their last game of the season. It was a physical game and the competition was back and forth. Taylor Huyck opened the scoring in the first period with a breakaway goal. This was followed by two Holderness goals, putting the score in Holderness' favor 2-1. However, Jourdan Buchler tallied her first goal of the season by finding the back of the net on a rebound/pile up in front of the Holderness goalie to put the score at 2-2. Unfortunately the Huskies could not hold on and Holderness was able to put a few more in the net. Taylor Huyck netted another goal late in the game and the final was 6-3.
There was great offensive play by Elizabeth Elcock, Jamie McBournie, Eliza Solman, Amy Lemonnier, Emmy Fay, Taylor, and Jourdan. In addition, Lilly McNeil had many rushes out of the defensive zone to put the Blue Bulls on their heals. Defensively the Huskies battled hard and saw many great stops by Maya Chase, Maya Armstrong, Sonny Pojdl, and Lilly McNeil. Sara Lepisto had another great game in net.
The Huskies finish their inaugural season with a 3-3-2 record. The improvement over the course of the season was amazing. The girls worked hard, had a great attitude, and learned the game of hockey. We are very proud of these athletes.
