One of New Hampton's most accomplished football players will take his game ot the Big Ten. After a summer of football camps and showcases throughout the East Coast, Jake Kiley ’12 (Plymouth, New Hampshire) recently made big decisions about where he will attend college.

Kiley  made a verbal commitment to Penn State, where he will play football. Kiley becomes one of the few BCS football recruits in history with New Hampshire roots. At 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, Kiley is a gifted athlete who has played football, basketball, and lacrosse for New Hampton. He started every game as a sophomore and junior at quarterback and defensive back and was the MVP of the Evergreen League as a junior. He was recruited as an athlete by Penn State, but figures to play defensive back in the Big Ten.

I went to the Penn State-Michigan State game last year and that was when I really got a taste of what Penn State is about,” says Kiley. “What was important to me in the process was picking a school that was solid academically and athletically. Penn State has a great mixture of both."

Kiley had 14 rushing touchdowns and 10 passing TDs in 2010, leading the Huskies to their second straight NEPSAC bowl appearance. Defensively, he had 47 tackles, four interceptions and three sacks. In 2009, he had nine interceptions.
Kiley is the son of New Hampton School coach Ed Kiley. The older Kiley has spent the last week explaining to reporters that his son has not been playing against sub-par competition at New Hampton, which has produced the likes of Brendan Smith ’05 (Northwestern) and Tori Gurley ’08 (South Carolina, Green Bay Packers).

“A lot of people don't realize the competition we play is pretty good. Division I kids come out of our league quite frequently,'' said Kiley's father. "He's athletic, his knowledge of the game is key and he loves to hit. Coach [Tom] Bradley told us he fits their philosophy.''
