New Hampton traveled to Holderness School on Wednesday, October 20 to face the Blue Bulls for the second time this season. The first match between the two teams ended in a tie after a 10-minute overtime period. Expecting a close match, both teams came out strong and fired up for a good game. Holderness generated a lot of offense in the first half, but New Hampton's defense held them back. New Hampton put together some nice passing combinations and played well together in their press with great communication. With just under 4 minutes remaining in the half, Holderness managed to sneak the ball past keeper Rachel Legg '13 to put themselves up 1-0 at the half. The second half was a greater challenge for New Hampton, as Holderness upped their intensity and the Huskies wavered. The Blue Bulls racked up three more goals at 6, 12, and 18 minutes to widen their lead to 4-0, which was the final score of the game. In the net, Rachel Legg had a phenomenal game, recording 18 saves. Lizzy Ball '12 and Reiva Keith '11 were instrumental in the midfield, working hard on defense and trying to generate offense for the Huskies. New Hampton returns to action Friday night at 6:00 pm at Kimball Union Academy.
