Sophie Lawi ’12 was recently selected to participate in the New England Young Writers' Conference, which will be held at Middlebury College's Bread Loaf School of English. A native of Montreal, Canada, Lawi was chosen from a large applicant pool for the prestigious conference, which celebrates its 25th year this spring.
"I would really like to get better at writing fictional stories," Lawi said. "Writing dialogue is something that is difficult for me."
A gifted artist, Lawi has been a prodigous writer for some time now and will benefit from workshops with nationally recognized writers.
"I'm very excited and a little nervous," Lawi said.
Lawi participated in an intense month of writing during the fall as part of the national novel writing month during the fall with the goal of writing a 50,000-word novel, from beginning to end, in one month.
The conference will be held from May 13 to 16, 2010.
