NHS Stumbles at NHM, 95-83

2011 guard Jordan Laguerre (Manchester, NH) scored 23 points as NHS lost, 95-83, at Northfield Mount Hermon Friday night.

Offensively, Laguerre was generously supported by his teammates; Thomas Bropleh (Boulder, CO) and Drexel-signee Dartaye Ruffin (Stoughton, MA) each scored 14 points, while URI-commit Kyle Cain (Chicago, IL) and Michigan-commit Evan Smotrycz (Reading, MA) scored 13 points and 12 points respectively.

New Hampton trailed by just six points with less than one minute to play in the first half, however, a quick shot and a careless turnover by the HUSKIES led to back-to-back three-point field goals and a 12 point half time deficit.

For New Hampton, the second half began much like the first half closed; another Hogger flurry extended the lead to 22 points. NHS did go on a run of their own, surging to within 8 points with less than two minutes to go, but it was not enough.

“We had far too many careless mistakes. NMH deserved this one. You can’t play the way we did and expect to win on the road in this league. It’s that simple.”

New Hampton will not have to wait long for an opportunity to get back in the win column. They will hit the hardwood again Sat., Jan. 30, with a road game at Class A rival Worcester Academy. Game time is slated for 6:00 p.m.
