In a battle between the two top-ranked teams in New England Prep School Class A, the New Hampton School girls' basketball team defeated Noble & Greenough School on Friday evening, 51-37. The Huskies were slow out of the blocks, allowing Nobles to jump out to a 10-5 lead midway through the first half. New Hampton head coach Mark Tilton called a timeout to regroup his players and they responded by finishing the half with an impressive 18-5 run to take a 23-15 lead into the locker room. The second half saw an inspired Nobles team cut the New Hampton lead to three before New Hampton once again rallied down the stretch. New Hampton was led by Jaclyn Murray (Gloucester, MA), who scored 11 points. Alex Marcell (Pittsford, VT) and Jen Gureckis (Nashua, NH) each contributed 10 points for the Huskies. The win improves New Hampton's record to 14-1 for the season and reinforces the team's number-one ranking with just five games remaining before the New England Class A Tournament.
