In the home opener of the 2020-2021 COVID season, the Huskies defeated the Hornets by a score of 6-1. New Hampton started the game fast jumping on the scoreboard twice in the first period. Jackson Weglarz scored his first as a Husky shorthanded on a beautiful 2 on 1 play with assistant captain, Ronny Paragallo. Trevor Castino also picked up an assist on the play. Later in the period, Jake Terra found the back of the net after a hardworking play by Nick Townshend.
The Hornets would strike back in the second period to make the score 2-1 on a shot through traffic from the point, but the Huskies answered right away. Alex Moeller would go on to score two goals in the period to increase the New Hampton lead. On Moeller's first goal, Townshend and Zack Goode picked up assists and on Moeller's second goal Castino picked up the assist.
New Hampton would add two more in the third period to make the score 6-1. Evan Moore was one of the goal scorers when he beat the Proctor goaltender short side. Zack Goode picked up an assist on the play. Paragallo would finish off the scoring with another shorthanded goal. Lucas Brine was strong in net making 23 saves to earn his first win of the season.
