New Hampton School vs. Brewster Academy (E.G Watkins Tournament) 12/18/15
In the third game of the tournament, the Huskies would face the Brewster Academy Bobcats for the second time this season. In their first matchup, the Huskies won 3-1. With two well-earned shutouts by the Huskies, goalie Olivia Sollows ’19 would hope to keep the trend going and earn her second victory over Brewster Academy.
The Huskies would score first with a great shot from the point by Cayla Barnes ’17, assisted by Mckenzie Haberl ’19. With tape-to-tape breakout passes and an even better fore-check, the Huskies were able to keep Brewster scoreless throughout the first period. In the second period, defenseman Kayla Milofsky ’17 would fire a slap shot from the point, which would go over the shoulder of the Bobcat goalie, earning her first goal of the season. With a 2-0 lead, Mckenzie Haberl ’19 would score with assists by Savannah Norcross ’18 and Cayla Barnes ’17. Great fore-checking by Nicki Santora ’16 would keep the Huskies at a 3-0 lead. Later in the third period, Brewster was able to capitalize on a Husky defensive zone breakdown and would get on the board by scoring on a 2-0. The Huskies would win the game 3-1 and be guaranteed a spot in the final game on Saturday against Worcester Academy.
