Huskies advance to semi-finals of New England Tournament
The New Hampton Huskies traveled to Williston-Northampton School to take on South Kent in the first round of the New England tournament. The 8th ranked Huskies faced a big challenge taking on the #1 ranked Cardinals, but got off to a quick start on a Griffin Votolato "12 goal on the first shift of the game. After South Kent tied the game while shorthanded Dillon Harrington "11 found the back of the net right before the end of the first.
The second period saw the South Kent take control of the play scoring twice and ending the period up 3-2.
NHS knew their backs were against the wall going into the third, but that did not stop them. Huskies struck early on a goal by John Humphrey "11 to tie the game and Trevor Paquet "11 gave the Huskies a 4-3 lead on the power-play midway through the third period. South Kent would answer by tying the game before the end of the period sending the game into overtime.
Both teams had opportunity to end the game early into overtime. However it was, Providence College commit, Connor Gorman "11 who ended the game for the huskies on a breakaway. New Hampton now advances to the semi finals at the Salem Ice Center.
