The Visual Arts Department at New Hampton School offers Studio Art courses for all levels of interest and experience, as well as for those who know they will pursue art at the college level.
Students have the opportunity to take introductory or intermediate courses in many different subjects including: Environmental Art, Digital Media, Photography, 2D Design, 3D Design, and Media Productions.
The International Baccalaureate program is a one or two year course designed for the student who would like to challenge themselves by clarifying their artistic vision, advancing their technical skills, and building their portfolio. This IB course values the creative process as well as the final product. Students may specialize in any media they choose. In their year of examination students have their own exhibit in the Galletly Gallery and submit a portfolio and pages of their workbook to the IB for assessment.
Many New Hampton students are accepted to art schools, including: the Rhode Island School of Design; the Art Institute of Chicago; the School of Visual Arts; Massachusetts College of Art; Maine College of Art; and Savannah College of Art and Design.
