David Perfield
David Perfield P’29 serves as the 24th Head of New Hampton School.
With nearly 25 years of experience in independent school education and leadership, David brings a deep understanding of student-centered learning, community life, and institutional stewardship.
David’s career began right here at New Hampton School, where he worked as a teacher, coach, dorm parent, and advisor. He later held senior leadership roles at Cardigan Mountain School and served as Head of School at Oldfields School before returning to New Hampton as Assistant Head of School. His leadership is grounded in strong relationships, academic excellence, and a clear commitment to the School’s mission and future.

New Hampton’s administrative team is deeply integrated in the daily life of the school, guiding academics, residential life, and operations with care and intention. Working alongside faculty and in close connection with students, this team helps shape an environment that reflects New Hampton’s values and supports the growth of every member of the community.
