Athlete of the Month
May Co-Female Athletes: Alisha Gilbert '14 & Tori Fitzgerald '14
Members of the Women’s Varsity Softball and Lacrosse Teams, respectively, Tori Fitzgerald '14 and Alisha Gilbert '14 have been vital contriubutors to each of their championship teams this spring. Tori is the backbone of the softball team, playing the often thankless position of catcher and doing it better than any other player in the league. Offensively, she quietly dominates. She is the most consistent player on the team, and is such a dependable player. In May, Tori is hitting .682 and leads the team in runs scored with 32. The true definition of a team-first athlete, she puts the greater good ahead of herself and does it all for the team. For her selflessness, dedication to her team, Tori Fitzgerald is the May Co-Female Athlete of the Month.
Alisha is the brick wall of fefense for the Women’s Varsity Lacrosse Team, helping lead her lacrosse team to victories over Lakes Region rivals, Holderness, Brewster, Tilton, and KUA. These wins solidified the team's Co-Lakes Region Title. Recently, Alisha can be seen making a huge save in net, then running down the field to congratulate the offense for finishing the play. She is a quiet leader, but her tenacious competitiveness helps the team defense make numerous stops. Alisha’s confidence in net continues to increase in perfect timing for the team to face St, Paul's and Andover in the final two games of the season. For her composure, many key saves in net, and confidence in herself and in her teammates ahead of her, the Co-May Female Athlete of the Month is awarded to Alisha Gilbert.

Athlete of the Month
May Male Athlete: Ryder Arsenault '13
The May Male Athlete of the Month goes to Ryder Arsenault '13 a member of the Men’s Varsity Baseball Team. Ryder's strong all-around play was a big factor in the varsity baseball team finishing the year with an 8-2 record in their last 10 games. He hit well over .500 in that stretch and finished the year heading into the playoffs with a .429 batting average and 2 Home Runs. He has been a leader for the team as a hitter, a shortstop, and, most significantly, as a catcher. He helped our pitchers by framing pitches, aggressively blocking balls in the dirt, and throwing out base runners. He has been outstanding behind the plate throwing out 12 of 20 base runners this spring. Ryder will be leading his team into the Championship game of the Lakes Region Tournament this Saturday. For his excellent play, enthusiastic leadership and selfless attitude. The May Male Athlete of the Month is awarded to Ryder Arsenault.

Jamie Arsenault is currently in his fifteenth year at New Hampton School. He is the Director of Athletics. Jamie completed his B.A. in Administrative Science at Colby College in 1988 and his M.A. in Public Policy at Trinity College in 1993. Jamie was a three-sport captain at Colby College where he played football, basketball and baseball. After graduation, Jamie went on to coach Football, Basketball and Baseball at Colby College, Trinity College, and Rensselaer Poly Institute. After a short time in the Lumber industry, Jamie found his true calling in boarding school. Jamie took over the basketball program at Bridgton Academy for two years before coming to New Hampton School.
At New Hampton School, Jamie has made an impact teaching character in all that he does. Jamie says that to him the character of his athletes is more important than their skills, and that he chooses student-athletes based on whether he would trust them to babysit his kids. One of Jamie's greatest memories here at New Hampton School was winning the 2002 New England Basketball Championship, when he felt that it was "a true and complete team effort with a good bunch of young people who really played their hearts out." Jamie's favorite leisure time activities involve playing with his children – son Ryder and daughter Dempsey. Jamie lives in Wolfe House with his wife, Lara, and their children.
