2014 Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees

NHS inducts new class into the Hall of Fame in ceremony to kick off the Powder Keg games.
On Saturday morning, the School inducted the new members into its Athletic Hall of Fame. In an all-community ceremony presided over by Athletic Director Jamie Arsenault, two athletes, one coach, one scout and two teams received their Hall of Fame citations.

Coach Ed Madan was inducted on the strength of his work with Lakes Region Championship track and field teams. He led that program, coached football and basketball and served as Head of Berry House for more than twenty years.

Jackie Wishoski '02 starred in soccer at both NHS and the University of New Hampshire. She still holds multiple scoring records at both institutions.

Gary Eggleston '54 played varsity football, hockey and baseball. He went on to scout for the Detroit Red Wings of the NHL before serving for thirty-one years in the NHL's Central Scouting Bureau.

Daryl MacLeod '77 starred on the 1976-77 men's hockey team that finished the season with a 26-0 record. He went on to win a national championship with Boston University in 1978 and two Beanpot Tournaments in 1978 and 1979. MacLeod was drafted in the 5th round of the NHL draft and spent six years playing professional hockey in the Bruins, Oilers and Devils organizations.

The 1967 tennis team went undefeated in and outside of the Lakes Region. All of the players went on to success in college and beyond: Andy Cohen went on to captain the University of Maryland team; Joel Taylor played #1 singles at the University of New Hampshire; Hugh Barry played #2 singles and #1 doubles at Gettysburg; Fritz Buschmann played for four years at Bates College; Lansing Dean played at Drexel; and Gordon Rose played soccer and skied at UNH.

The 1999 football team went 7-1 before beating an undefeated Independent School League Champion Belmont Hill squad 39-6 for their second straight Class B Super Bowl victory. Highlighting their induction was the return of eight former head coaches.

The ceremony served as an inspiring prelude to the Powder Keg games in which NHS triumphed 9-2 over Tilton School.
