Huskies defeat the Wildcats of KUA 6-2 and improve to 7-1 in the league.

New Hampton hosted Kimball Union on Wednesday afternoon and came out victorious 6-2.  Senior Captain Kieran McNamara pitched a great game to get the win.
The New Hampton Huskies improved to 7-1 on the season with a 6-2 league win over Kimball Union at Gnerre Field on Wednesday afternoon.

Senior Captain, Kieran McNamara started on the mound and kept the KUA hitters off balance to get the win for the Huskies.  Kieran pitched 5 complete innings allowing just 2 hits and 1 run while striking out 7 KUA batters.  Sophomore Griffin Taylor came in for relief and pitched 2 innings allowing just 2 hits and 1 run and struck out 2 batters.

The Huskies offense was led by Senior Captain Michael Athanasoulas.  Athanasoulas started off the inning with a sole homerun for his 2nd homer of the season.  Griffin Taylor would single in the inning driving in the 2nd run for the Huskies and Ryan Carey would reach on an error which also scored a run in the inning.

The Huskies scored twice in the 4th inning on a Ryan Carey single and a Finn Glidden double extending the lead to 5-0 for the Huskies.

On the day, Michael Athansoulas went 2 for 4 while Ryan Carey, Finn Glidden, and Griffin Taylor all collected clutch hits during the game.

Defensively, the middle infield duo of Griffin Taylor and Ryan Carey turned 2 key double plays that got their team out of trouble.

The Huskies will travel to Vermont Academy on Friday for their next league contest.  Gametime is set for 4:00 pm.
