  • Huskies Manage Big Win over Hebron

In the midst of a hail storm, rain, two rainbows, and a stunning sunset, the Huskies competed against visiting Hebron Academy at home on Kennedy Field. The Huskies struck early in the game from a shot from the top of the box from Anna Shelden, her first as a Husky! Hebron held their own, keeping a high defensive line and looking to intercept passes made into the New Hampton offense. The Huskies attacked over the top, and the second goal was scored off a well-placed through ball to Ally Prentice from Lindsey Duggan, who played it towards the far post for Liv Sollows to knock it in. The Huskies managed the midfield and were competitive in winning 50-50 balls off goal kicks and clears. After the first half, the score was 3-0. In the second half, the Huskies came out strong, unwilling to give up a goal. Midway through the second half, Lindsey Duggan scored her first goal of the season off a bouncing ball struck well with a left-footed volley. The game ended 4-0. The Huskies look forward to hosting KUA at 2pm on Wednesday, 10/24 at Kennedy Field.

  • Huskies Tackle Neighboring Rams

The Huskies traveled south to neighboring Tilton School to battle the Rams on Wednesday, October 3rd. The game started slow in the first half. Kylee Bowen and Jess Burwell had a few great shorts from the corner of the box but the Tilton goalie held onto them. Ally Prentice, Anna Sheldon, and Lindsey Duggan did a great job winning the ball in the midfield. The defense stopped a few chances from Tilton in the first half and we managed to keep out a dangerous Tilton corner kick. In the second half, we improved our pace and Ally Prentice managed to score in the 75th minute by bullying through the Tilton defense and receiving a great pass from the midfield. Sam Rivet followed a few minutes later with a shot off a ball played through to the left side. We will face Tilton School again at the annual Powder Keg game!

  • Huskies Defeat the Wildcats

The Huskies fought hard in our first home game against Vermont Academy. This game showed an incredible speed of play from us as our midfield and defense passed through the middle and found our forwards in open space in the attacking third with good long balls behind Vermont’s defense. Huskies scored two goals early in the game by co-captain Liv Sollows who followed a pass into the box and scored by poking the ball past the Vermont goalie and senior Kylee Bowen who scored just a few minutes later off a short from 12 yards out that she put to the far post! We held our ground in the midfield and battled out a second half, letting in a goal off a deflected corner kick late in the second half. Goalie Emma Thorsson had a great game in net and made a few incredible saves. Next, we face Holderness School in Plymouth, NH.

  • Huskies Tie at Holderness

The Huskies traveled to Holderness School to play a tight game against our local rival. The first half we held our ground but had trouble managing our space, the addition of being on a grass field did not help our speed of play. Junior Jess Burwell had a lot of shots and freshman Ally Prentice did her best on attack but the star of the first half was senior defender Jessie Hounchell who flew down the sidelines to chase down the Holderness forwards multiple times. We scored on a shot for Jess Burwell, assisted off Liv Sollows’s deflected penalty shot in the middle of the first half. Goal keeper Emma Thorsson has several great saves in the net. In the second half, we did a great job maintaining the midfield and had a few more good opportunities to score indluding shots from Ally Prentice, Meg Edwards, Liv Sollows, and Anna Sheldon. Holderness scored late in the second half off of a breakaway that Emma came out for but ultimately ended up tying the game.
