The New Hampton School Women’s JV program provides basketball basics for those players who have not yet experienced the game as well as the building blocks necessary for those who have already participated in the sport.
The players are challenged at every level in hopes to gain an overall understanding of the game.
Congratulations to our seniors Ellie K., Rachel S. and Tina Z! Ellie K. led all scorers with fifteen points. Chihie T. added eight points while Carter W. had six. Aleesa B. and Lindsey D. each contributed four points. Rachel S. had multiple blocks, played terrific defense and added one basket. Tina Z. made her first basket of the season! Dallas W., Allie P.. and Sarah L. all played well. Nga N., Tessa F., Laura K., Becca S. and Naia G.
New Hampton came out with an upbeat tempo and all members of the team had the opportunity to play. Carter W. led all scorers with eighteen points. Rachel S. added eleven points while Ellie K. added ten points. Allie P. chipped in seven points while Aleesa B. added one basket. Lindsey D. and Dallas W. played well on the defensive end. Nga N., Tessa F., and Laura K. all played well on both sides of the floor. Tina Z. and Becca S. hustled up and down the floor. Sarah L. grabbed several rebounds and nearly scored. Chihie T. cheered her teammates on and added her support from the sideline.
The Huskies performed well today, although the score may not reflect their effort. New Hampton was without their leading scorer, they were called for nearly triple the amount of foul calls as their opponent, had two starters foul out and still managed to play well! Kudos to the girls! Ellie K. led all scorers with eight points. Lindsey D. added six points while Carter W., Rachel S. and Allie P. each had five. Dallas W. stepped in an played terrific on both ends of the floor and added two points. Aleesa B. played tenacious defense and added three points. The players on bench were very supportive and helped their teammates by providing constant encouragement.
New Hampton traveled to Andover today to take on the Proctor Hornets. The Huskies slowly got back into the groove and came away with a win. Rachel S. and Ellie K. both had nine points each. Chihie T. and Carter W. both chipped in five points. Sarah L. and Alessa B. completed the scoring with one basket a piece. Becca S. and Nga N. both played exceptional defense. Dallas W. Laura K. and Tessa F. are all becoming more comfortable with the offense and each played really well. The Huskies will host High Mowing on Wednesday.
New Hampton returned from the long weekend break today. The Huskies got off to a slow start and could not quite get into their rythym. Allie P. led all scorers with twelve points. Rachel S. added eleven points. Chihie chipped in eight points while Ellie K. added one basket. The Huskies will head to Proctor on Saturday for their first meeting of the season.
Kathy attended Belmont High School (Belmont, MA) and was a three sport Varsity athlete competing in soccer, basketball and track. She graduated from Belmont High School with a State Championship in soccer and several school records in basketball and track (high jump and hurdles). Kathy went on to receive her B.S. in Business Administration from Saint Michael’s College. She was a two sport Varsity athlete in both soccer and basketball and is a member of the Saint Michael’s Athletic Hall of Fame (soccer, basketball). Currently, she is the only woman in the history of the basketball program to have compiled over 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in her career. She continues to hold both league and school records at the high school and collegiate levels. She was recently inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame.
Kathy has been involved in coaching a range of sports for many years and has instructed at varying levels, from youth recreation to college. She focuses on the fundamentals and hopes to provide her players with an increased overall understanding of the game.
