The New Hampton School Women’s JV program provides basketball basics for those players who have not yet experienced the game as well as the building blocks necessary for those who have already participated in the sport.
The players are challenged at every level in hopes to gain an overall understanding of the game.
New Hampton played their first game of 2019. They played a tough Brewster squad who never gave up. New Hampton played well overall and certainly needed to dust of some of the post Winter Break rust. Chihie T. led all scorers with thirteen points. Ellie K. added nine points. Carter W. and Allie P. each added five points. Rachel S. played well under the basket and added three points. Aleesa B. played amazing defense and added one basket. Dallas W. and Sarah L. played well on defense. Laura K., Tina, Tessa, Nga N. and Becca S. all supported their teammates through a very up and down contest. The girls worked hard and held on for the win! Go Huskies!!
New Hampton travelled to Kimball Union today to play the Wildcats. Chihhie T. led all scorers with thirteen points. Ellie K. chipped in seven and Carter W. had five. Alessa B. played terrific defense and added four points. Rachel S. grabbed several rebounds, added a few blocks as well as had four points. Allie P. had three points and Sarah L. added one basket. Dallas W. played well. Becca S. hustled on both ends of the floor. Nga N. played really tough defense. Tessa F. and Laura K both played really well!
The Huskies played their first game of the season against a talented team from Tilton. Ellie K. and Chihhie T. led all scorers with twelve points each. Carter W. made her Husky debut and added eleven points. Rachel S. played tough under the hoop and added six points. Aleesa B. played amazing defense and additionally added five points. Sarah L. added her first basket of the season. Allie P. did a terrific job running the offense. Dallas W. and Becca S. hustled. Lindsey D. played well and grabbed multiple rebounds while on offense and defense, Nga N. played well in her first game as a Husky! Tessa and Laura added their enthusiasm and support.
Kathy attended Belmont High School (Belmont, MA) and was a three sport Varsity athlete competing in soccer, basketball and track. She graduated from Belmont High School with a State Championship in soccer and several school records in basketball and track (high jump and hurdles). Kathy went on to receive her B.S. in Business Administration from Saint Michael’s College. She was a two sport Varsity athlete in both soccer and basketball and is a member of the Saint Michael’s Athletic Hall of Fame (soccer, basketball). Currently, she is the only woman in the history of the basketball program to have compiled over 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in her career. She continues to hold both league and school records at the high school and collegiate levels. She was recently inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame.
Kathy has been involved in coaching a range of sports for many years and has instructed at varying levels, from youth recreation to college. She focuses on the fundamentals and hopes to provide her players with an increased overall understanding of the game.
