Team Information

  • Ski Freeski Coed-Varsity

    2017 - 2018
    Head Coach: Sam Conkling '85

New Hampton School is excited to start a “freeski” team for the first time in the school’s 195-year history. The coed team will focus on “all-mountain” and “slopestyle” skiing at nearby Loon Mountain four days each week. Skiing moguls, trees and steeps will be part of the training regimen that leads to a progression of tricks practiced on the rails, jumps and other features of Loon’s famous terrain parks and mountain. We start skiing immediately after Thanksgiving vacation, and continue until early March. Competitions will be held at a variety of ski areas in New England, creating excellent opportunities for freeskiers to compete and celebrate this exciting and creative form of skiing. Loon Mountain, 35 minutes to the north, is home to some of the best terrain parks, snowmaking and all-mountain skiing in the northeast. The team will take advantage of those aspects on a daily basis, to train for Lakes Region and New England Freeski/Freeride competitions. Skiers will travel and train as a team, but as in all snow sports, individuals will progress at their own rates.
