Huskies End Regular Season with Powder Keg Win

New Hampton captures Powder Keg to make it eight years in a row
It is always difficult to travel to Tilton despite our rivals being only 15 minutes south. The well-organized and tenacious Rams are always ready to give it their all and this year was no different.

The stage was set right from kick-off for a tense game and that is certainly what we got. Both teams are on the verge of playoff contention and this final regular season game could be the make or break.

In a choppy first-half that lacked any rhythm, neither side was really able to establish themselves on the pitch. However, out of almost nothing, we got a shot off from about 25-yards out that was expertly place in the bottom corner. All of sudden the Huskies took the lead and fought to preserve it for the remainder of the half.

The Rams had clearly done their homework about our playing style and shut us out for much of the first-half. We made the tactical adjustment at the half and never looked back. With our new shape and some fresh legs, we kept the ball in their half with incredible pressure for the vast majority of the second half. We escaped a Tilton counter-attack opportunity that struck the crossbar and that seemed to wake us up even more. We buried the second goal and sailed to victory in the local rivalry.

New Hampton captured Powder Keg for the eighth year in a row... now, we wait to find out if we made the cut for playoffs.
