New Hampton football improves to 3 - 0 on the season after a 40 - 14 victory over Portsmouth Abbey.
Fall was in the air as the Huskies hosted the Ravens of Portsmouth Abbey School (RI) this afternoon on Kennedy Field. New Hampton took control of the game early scoring 4 touchdowns in the first two quarters. The first came on a 48-yard pass from quarterback Nick Bailey to senior tight end Noah Bolduc. This was the Bolduc's first touchdown in his Husky career. Moments later, Bailey would find Marcus Peterson for a 59-yard touchdown strike. David Henriques would intercept a tipped ball by linebacker Tom McNeil and return it 62 yards for his first career touchdown as a Husky. In the second quarter running back, Ky'Juon Butler would get his chance to put his talent on display, carrying the ball 61 yards into the endzone. A botched snap would put the Ravens in great field position in the second quarter. Three play later, quarterback Shane Hoey would find Will Crowley in the endzone for a 6-yard touchdown pass. Senior receiver Marcus Peterson would again find paydirt by returning the opening kickoff 81 yards for his second touchdown of the day. Later in the quarter, Butler would rush for another touchdown. The Ravens would score again in the 4th quarter when running back Josh Plumb carried the ball for an 8-yard carry.
Ky Butler would finish the day with 101 yards rushing on 8 carries. Nick Bailey would throw for 148 yards on the afternoon.
