Stalemate in Andover

Willis Griffith
Draw with Proctor kicks off week on the road; still undefeated after 5 games.
The two evenly-matched teams both came into the game with records of 3-0-1. It came as no surprise that this Lakes Region League match-up was hard-fought with little to separate the teams.

Proctor earned the best of the first half with an aggressive, counter-attacking style balanced with decent possession in the attacking half. We struggled to hang in until half-time, but some big tackles and great efforts held us even.

The first-half saw us get beat out consistently on 50/50s and chances created, but, with a change of shape and renewed energy, the team came out strong and were the better team in the second half. We had three real opportunities that we could not take advantage of with one smacking off the crossbar.

0-0 was a fair result for a hotly contested game, but we are certainly frustrated to come away with only a tie and know that we must capitalize on our chances.

We remain undefeated after 5 games and will carry that momentum into two more away games this week. Next up, we face Hebron Academy in Maine on Wednesday; followed by Phillips Exeter Academy on Saturday.
