Successful Season Opener for the Huskies!

The JVFH team dominated in 9V9 showing against the KUA Wildcats. Leading the charge was senior captain Subhana Branche who was a general on the field, directing her younger team members. Shining stars were newcomers Ava Golash and Isa Healey who were unstoppable in the middle of the field. Huskies hit the ground running at the first whistle, immediately marching down the field and putting pressure on the talented KUA keeper, who kept them at bay for the entire first quarter. (For this game, we played four 12-minute quarters) 48 seconds into the second quarter, Molly Coyle, on a pass from Isa Healey, skillfully slid it onto the back of the net. The second goal was made by veteran senior Emily LaCroix halfway into the third. This was the perfect poetry on a 123 pass across the front of the net, Coyle to Golash finishing with a gorgeous redirect from LaCroix. The pressure never let up. Any time the ball changed possession, Huskies were right there to re-defend. In the back field, Junior Captain Sammy Davis, was a wall, stopping every encroachment from the KUA wildcats. Huskies scored again on a penalty corner shot from Coyle, putting the score at 3-0.In the third, KUA was able to force their way into the sacred circle. Huskies banned together and with the resolve of Goalkeeper Sarah LaCroix putting 5 saves on the board for her team, earning the shut out, the Huskies were able to hold off the Wildcats. The final goal in the last quarter came of a perfectly executed penalty corner. Healey inserted the ball on a short pass to Branche who, drawing the defense away, flicked the ball to the left post. Healey got her stick on it for a beautiful deflection earning the 4th and final goal.The Huskies play their home opener Wednesday 9/18 at 2:00pm against the Brewster Bobcats. Can't make the game?
