Huskies Earn a Win in Their First Game of the Season

Coach Koester
Teamwork and motivation bring the Huskies a win in the home opener.
On a warm September afternoon, the Huskies took to the pitch eager for their first win. Several returning players were vocal on the field helping those new to the team, and their leadership showed. Fourteen minutes into the first half, Paige Noyes got a good look on a direct kick, but couldn't get it past the White Mountain goalie. Tied at the first half 1-1, the sides looked evenly matched. White Mountain played a tough defense and prevented the Huskies from getting more than one goal through. Allie Parmett played a strong first half in net and Bry Treon took her spot in the second half. After several unsuccessful attempts, Paige Noyes crossed into Sydney Mailloux at the far post, and she poked it in to give the Huskies the lead after 12 minutes of play in the second half. With 2 minutes left in the game, captain Jamie Holleran stuffed a penalty kick on a White Mountain hand ball into the back of the net, and the Huskies ended with a 3-1 victory. Lulu Budde, Lily Tripp, Natalie Sagnerova, and Averi Curran played fantastically well in their first game as Huskies, and Nga Nguyen, Madi Woods, Lucy Thomson, and Becca Simmons set a strong example as the sophomore returners to the squad.
