Five Homeruns Lift Huskies Over Rams

Maryellen Leach collected four hits in New Hampton School's 14-3 victory over Tilton School on Monday afternoon. Leach homered in the first, tripled in the third, homered in the fifth, and singled in the sixth. Courtney Colarullo, Maddie Willingham and Zola Braswell also went yard. Strong pitching by Leach (9 K, 1 BB, 4 hits) over six innings coupled with solid defense by middle-infielders Bailey Jenness and Courtney Colarullo held Tilton to 3 runs on the day - 2 in the first inning and 1 more in the 6th off a homer by Tilton's Jackie Hill. Braswell had another stellar day behind the plate while left fielder Amelia Monahan had a big catch in the final frame. The Huskies' bats continue to be hot as Willingham, Braswell, Leach, and Jenness were repeat hitters on the day. NHS improves to 7-1 and will travel to Brewster for a rematch on Wednesday.
