Game called after 5 innings
Senior Maryellen Leach (Londonderry, NH) threw a shutout to lead New Hampton School past visiting Hebron Academy, 21-0 in the season-opener for both programs today. Leach allowed one hit, no runs, and no walks while striking out 7 in five innings of action.
The Huskies secured the victory thanks to 11 runs in the third inning, highlighted by a grand slam by senior tri-captain Maddie Willingham (New Hampton, NH). NHS had a total of 14 hits, including 3 apiece from Amelia Monahan (Bristol, NH) and Zola Braswell (Portsmouth, NH). Other repeat hitters on the day include Ellie Beaudet (Franklin, NH) and Leach.
Bailey Jenness (New Hampton, NH) had a strong defensive game at second base with no errors, 3 assists and 2 putouts.
