Huskies Run Into Hot Goaltender in Loss To Cushing

The New Hampton Huskies host Cushing Academy in their last regular season game of the season today. If history is any indication of how this game will play out, today’s game is going to be an all-out war. New Hampton and Cushing have had tight games the past couple years with both teams playing hard and physical hockey. The game started out just as expected, both teams came to play, hard physical hockey. The game saw back and forth action that involved a lot of play in the corners and along the boards. In order to score tonight, it was going to take getting your nose dirty and paying the price to make a play. With about eleven minutes left in the period, it was Cushing that struck first. The rest of the period remained scoreless, despite several chances for New Hampton to tie the game. The Huskies played good hard hockey in the second period but came out trailing 4-0. A couple of bounces in New Hampton’s favor and the Huskies could have been up by two or three. New Hampton started off the third period playing hard, looking to score early and create some momentum to come back in the game. The Huskies earned a couple power plays early in the period but were unable to capitalize. Eight minutes into the period, Cushing scored to go up by five and put an end to any momentum New Hampton had created. The Huskies lost 5-0 to Cushing in a hard fought battle. Although the lopsided score, New Hampton has a lot of positives to take out of the game, just will need to make sure to take advantage of their opportunities going forward. The Huskies will concentrate on getting ready to take on Tilton School this Friday in the Semi-Finals of the Lakes Region Playoffs.
