Huskies Can't Skate Past Cardigan

The Huskies traveled to Cardigan Mountain School on Wednesday afternoon and dropped the decision, 3 to 2. The Huskies played a strong game and stuck with the young, crafty Cardigan team. Unfortunately, New Hampton couldn’t beat the netminder in the final seconds to tie the game after a flurry of shots. New Hampton was led by former Cardigan Mountain standout, Rhys Jones, who scored both goals. Jones’ first goal was off a nice individual play when he picked up a loose puck in the New Hampton defensive zone and took it end to end where he fired a shot from the top of the circles. The Cardigan goalie made the initial save, but Jones kept going to the net and buried his own rebound. Jones scored his second goal late in the third period when he redirected a Jacob Stoy wrist shot into the net. The Huskies received stellar goaltending from both Alex Bechard and Andrew Sayles. New Hampton travels to Hebron Academy on Saturday afternoon for their next game.
