FIrst Comp at Okemo

Our first meet of the season was a fun and rewarding adventure to Vermont. Okemo is known to have the most difficult features in their terrain park, and this year proved no different. The course consisted of two rails followed by two jumps. There were essentially two “lanes” to pick from, very difficult rails and jumps on the right side and plain difficult on the left. The right side features were well beyond most of the teams’ skill and comfort levels, while the left side was slightly doable for our most advanced skiers. The conditions added another interesting dimension to the day. Most of Vt received two feet of snow earlier in the week, followed by heavy winds that scoured the slopes. As a result of all this, along with a light rain, the conditions we had made for a very challenging competition. The team did well despite these challenges, and had a lot of fun in the process, even after it started raining. With a total of 43 guys from 7 different teams competing, Theo placed 18th, Colin 19th, Louis 25th, Patrick 31st and John 39th. Having never competed before, the rest of the team observed the scene and the process and supported their teammates. We are very much looking forward to skiing Mt Snow in Vt next week, and hope for better conditions.
