Mailloux sisters help NHS snowboard team to first place finish @ Gunstock Giant Slalom.
With our first competition this season canceled and midterms last week, the New Hampton Snowboard Team was eager to get their bibs on and compete. The giant slalom race today at Gunstock Mountain hosted nearly 70 riders, with comfortable temperatures and softer snow conditions. New Hampton was missing several riders due to illness and injuries. However, we did have a few riders compete for their first time ever as a Husky snowboarder.

Freshman, Sydney Mailloux, competed in the Giant Slalom today for her first time ever as a Husky. Sydney is a local day student and her older sister, Alexa, is a sophomore on the snowboard team. Sydney made the podium at the end of the day with a 3rd place finish overall in the girls’ category. Her older sister, Alexa, was close behind with a 5th place finish. Their two solid runs resulted in a first-place finish for New Hampton amongst the girls.

Sophomore, Theodore Chiaramonte, also competed for his first time as a New Hampton snowboarder. “Ted” took 18thoverall in the boys’ category out of fifty riders. He had two solid runs for his first time ever through a Giant Slalom course. The team was able to train in Gunstock’s park after the competition ended, and many look forward to our first slopestyle competition next week.”
