Huskies Get Much Needed Win in Friday Night Tilt

The Huskies took the ice Friday evening at Jacobson Arena in front of a great crowd and came out with a 6 to 2 victory over Bedford High School (NH). The game was back and forth through the first 10 minutes as the game remained 0 to 0. Junior, Marek Pechr gave the Huskies a 1 to 0 lead on the penalty kill when he chased down a high-flipped puck from freshman, Mason Kesselring, and put it over the goalie’s glove. Bedford would tie the game a few minutes later on a powerplay tally. New Hampton kept battling and would score again on a goal from senior forward, Kaya Suner. Suner raced in alone, made a nice move, and slipped the puck 5 hole to give the Huskies a 2 to 1 lead. Again, Bedford wouldn’t let up and tied the game up on a sloppy, defensive zone play by the Huskies. Late in the first half, freshman, Jimmy McCool, would score his first goal in a Husky uniform as he made a gritty play in the corner, took the puck hard to the net, and slipped it around the goalie. Senior, Harry Secor, picked up the assist. McCool’s goal gave New Hampton the lead and they never looked back. The second half of the game saw goals from Kesselring, Jacob Stoy, and another from Suner. Sophomore goaltender, Ben Moro, was phenomenal in net making saves throughout the game to keep the Huskies in it. New Hampton is back in action Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. as they take on the NH Avalanche U-16 team at Jacobson Arena.
