Huskies Snipe First Win Against Milton Academy

Determined to come back from a season opening loss, the Huskies brought their A game against the Mustangs on Saturday. Freshman goalie, Sophia Hausberger ’22, saw her first game of the season at New Hampton, making crucial saves throughout the entire game. In the first period New Hampton came out dominating most of the period, but could not capitalize, resulting in a 0-1 period. The second period however exhibited the best plays of New Hampton hockey thus far, with points coming from both defenseman and forwards: Jess Burwell ’20, Mackenzie Haberl ’19, and Lily Humphries ’19. Despite the Huskies effort in the 2nd, Milton fought back hard, resulting in another goal from them in the third period. Nevertheless, newcomer Taze Thompson ’20 was able to find an empty net goal, pushing the final score to 4-2 for the Huskies. New Hampton will continue to work on D-zone coverage and discipline as they head into the week preparing for their next games agains Hebron and Proctor.
