NHS loses season opener to Cushing Academy

Huskies traveled to Cushing Academy for their first game of the season. The first two periods were kept close, but unfortunately the Huskies had a tough finish to the game. 
Cushing got on the board first with two goals to take an early lead. Julia G had a breakaway but the Cushing goalie made the save. Julia was able to break up the play and go in for another breakaway, this time scoring the first goal for the Huskies. Cushing responded back with a goal of their own. The first period ended with Cushing in the lead 1-3. 
The second period was the strongest period for the Huskies. Their passing started to look better, and they had more opportunities on net. Zola B. scored on a shot from up top, to bring the Huskies within one. Bridget C. received a pass from Taylor H. to tie the game. Cushing scored a few more goals before the end of the period to take the lead 3-5. 
The third period was a tough one for the Huskies. They started to look tired and gave up some penalties and goals. Nora K. was in net and made 11 saves. At the end of the game, Bridget C was recognized for her hustle in the center position. Emma T. was recognized for her great play on defense, and Jacqui G for her overall great game.
