Huskies Struggle in Match Against Brewster

New Hampton faced Brewster Academy today for the second time this season. The match started off strong with the Huskies managing a high speed of play and looking to combine and play wide to the Sam Rivet and Kylee Bowen. The midfield held together good control, winning the ball out of the air on goal kicks and punts. The defense managed the Brewster defense carefully, especially Sera Hodgson, who has seemingly boundless energy, chasing down runs towards the top of the box with Liv Dunn and Jessie Hounchell and looking to combine with the midfield. Brewster played well defensively, holding a center midfield far back to add extra strength to their defensive line. The Huskies struggled to combine through the wall and were held to only 4 shots in the game, including two free kick opportunities from Lindsey Duggan, one which the Brewster goalie swatted away as it swung towards the upper right corner. Brewster capitalized on a well taken shot from the top of the box which found the far post, and again a few minutes later with another shot to the opposite post. The Huskies battled hard, and Jess Burwell just missed an opportunity on a running ball into the box but the game ended 2-0. The Huskies look forward to hosting Hebron next Wednesday at 4:30 on Kennedy Field.
