Huskies Battle to Victory Over Rival Tilton

Coach Smith
Late Duggan winner makes the difference for New Hampton.
A feisty Tilton squad gave the Huskies all they could handle on a scorching hot afternoon in New Hampshire. The Rams took an early lead off a well struck volley a few yards out from goal and kept up the intensity throughout the game. New Hampton finally struck back around the 30th minute. Junior back Juan Carlos Hernandez whipped in a cross to senior forward Nate Lamprey who controlled the ball and knocked it back across goal. A diving Tilton keeper was able to make the save, but the rebound fell right to the boot of freshman attacker Emmet Shea who burried his shot from the corner of 6-yard box.

A furious final 60 minutes ensued that saw New Hampton control the bulk of possesion, but struggle to find the back of the net. The Huskies hit a post and a crossbar in the 50th and 57th minutes, saw a great save from the Tilton netminder around the 60th minute, and peppered the net with shots from all over the box. It wasn't until the 78th minute that senior captain Caleb Duggan scored the game winner. With New Hampton mounting a relentless attack, a ball into the box was cooly collected by Lamprey who beat one defender and found an on-rushing Duggan who took one touch towards goal and blasted high into the net.

New Hampton travels to Winchendon for their next match on October 13th.
