Huskies make late push to secure win

James Pinkham
New Hampton headed north through the Notch to play The White Mountain School in our second game this season. With a big win against them to start the season, the Huskies got off the bus a little cocky. With a short bench to begin with, White Mountain created a defecit early and New Hampton had to rally to catch up. The team showed excellent grit as kids slotted back into their regular positions and clawed back in the game. A few goals kept the game close at half-time but White Mountain refused to roll over.
The third quarter was an excellent back and forth affair as the short field kept legs fresh and the ball moved up and down the field. Husky patience started to take over and as the game moved on, the referees flags came out. With several extra-player opportunities, New Hampton worked the ball around and created great scoring chances right on the crease. As our shots found the back of the net, the momentum shifted and solid defences finsihed the game off on a high note at the Huskies escaped a tough test with the W.
