Huskies keep composure and shut out Proctor

Husky bats came alive early to beat Proctor 3-0, Maryellen Leach with 15 strike outs in the no-hitter.
New Hampton didn’t waste time getting on base Thursday against Proctor and strung together four singles by Savannah Norcross, Courtney Colarullo, Zola Braswell, and Maryellen Leach taking the early lead 2-0.

It was a battle against the pitchers from the bottom of the first through the second inning, each only seeing three batters a piece. It wasn’t until Maddie Willingham hit a solo homerun over the left field fence that a runner got on base, Huskies up 3-0.

New Hampton had scattered hits throughout the remaining innings, Leach with a double in both the fourth and sixth innings, and Bailey Jenness and Colarullo adding two singles in the seventh, but no runs were generated.

Leach was a force on the mound, pitching a no-hitter in the shut out. The Huskies had nine hits on the day with crucial RBIs from both Braswell and Willingham.

New Hampton takes on Gould Academy Friday afternoon for their fourth game in a row this week.
