Huskies fall to the Huskies

In a classic case of Husky on Husky rivalry, your New Hampton Huskies took to the roads of Maine to play the Gould Academy Huskies' varsity lacrosse team. Water was in high demand as their turf radiated the hottest day in months back up at us. With an alreay short bench, it was going to be an uphill battle from the beginning. Legs became tired and water bottles were used by everyone, but despite the bleating of goats and clucking of hens from the farm behind us, it was clear to see the growth this team showed from the first practice. Guys played gritty lacrosse and worked hard against more talented opponents. Despite the final score, this was a game that we were in until the end.
Ian '20 continued his hot streak in net and showed poise against high caliber shots. Matt '19 played hurt and gave us opportunities off the face-off to go on offense. Eli '18 also made up for his late arrival with a quick goal and made sound plays despite running in the midfield for nearly a half a quarter. Jack '21 continued to impress along with our Euro-leauge representative players Kiko '20 and Pablo'19. J.R. '18 also was a constant presence in the defensive zone as he harried their attackers into dropping the ball, stepping out of bounds, and then gviing us opportunities in transition to go and score. We look forward to the rematch with Proctor Friday as they come to play us on our turf.
