Despite having 9 hits, New Hampton was unable to generate enough offense to offset defensive errors on Tuesday against Tilton.
New Hampton was solid through the first two innings, allowing only one run and scoring one of their own thanks to aggressive base running by Savannah Norcross.

Tilton took the lead 2-1 in the third inning after the Huskies struggled to control the ball in an attempt to throw a runner out at second base. The Rams added to their lead in the fourth inning when they strung together three singles in a row, up 3-1.

The Rams solidified the lead in the fifth inning adding three runs on three hits, Huskies down 6-1.

The Huskies fought back in the sixth inning with a nice double play by Courtney Colarullo who fielded a bunt in the air and caught a runner prior to tagging up at first base, Maddie Willingham heads up ready for the throw. Norcross got on base with a single to centerfield, Willingham sac-bunted Norcross over to second base, and Maryellen Leach had an RBI double, Huskies down 6-2.

Both teams would go scoreless through the seventh inning, final score 6-2 Tilton.

Maryellen Leach had a great day on the mound with 15 strikeouts. Both Norcross and Zola Braswell went 3 for 3 at the plate, and Maddy Young added two hits of her own.

The Huskies look to host Brewster Academy on Wednesday.
