Huskies aggressive at the plate in victory over Brewster

New Hampton racked up 27 hits in 5 innings over Brewster Academy.
The Huskies got on the board early with solid contributions from Maddie Crowley-Cahill, Maryellen Leach, Ellie Beaudet, Haley Stanley, Ali Beaulieu, and Bailey Jenness to take a 6-0 lead in the first inning. Brewster was able to get one run back thanks to the speed from their leadoff hitter before Maryellen Leach struck out the side.
 
New Hampton bats continued stayed alive with an additional 8 hits, improving their score to 15-1. Leach took care of yet another side of an inning herself with 2 strikeouts and fielding a grounder back at her on the mound.
 
The Bobcats blanked the Huskies in the top of the third but the Huskies returned the favor with Maddie Willingham on the mound.
 
New Hampton added 8 runs in the last two innings, bringing the final score to 23-1.
 
Leach and Willingham struck out 6 batters and 4 batters respectively. Freshman Ellie Beaudet went 5 for 5 on the day with 5 singles, and Averill McCorkle went 3 for 3 with 2 singles and a double. Eleven different Huskies got their bat on the ball for a total of 16 singles, 9 doubles, 2 triples, and 22 RBIs.
 
The Huskies have a quick turnaround time for their next game against Cushing Academy tomorrow at 3:30.
