Young Huskies felled by veteran Lumberjacks

James Pinkham
Hebron's varsity outpaces New Hampton's JV team
Your New Hampton Huskies took to the roads of Maine for a trip to Hebron. On paper this looked to be the toughest challenege on a young season as New Hampton was scheduled to play Hebron's varisty team. They looked every bit as talented as advertised and they controlled the pace of play from the get-go. They exectued well out of the face-off dot and took quality posessions and ran their offense. There were moments for the Huskies as they converted on their two offensive chances in the first half but headed into the second down by a score of 14-2. The second half showed some good efforts as the team reset but tired legs and injuires caught up with the boys as the game went on. With one goal right at the start of the half, New Hampton showed flashes of play but couldn't transition the ball up the field and spent too much time on defense. While we capitalized on scoring opportunities, those opportunities were too few in the game. This was a tough pill to swallow but a good learning moment for the team. We will double down in practice as we head to play league-rival Brewster Academy next.
