NHS vs. Vermont Academy LRSF

The Huskies would host the Lakes Region Semi-Final game at the Jake against Vermont Academy. The winner of this game would move on to play in the Lakes Region Tournament Championship game. Although Vermont Academy would score in the very first minute of the game, the Huskies would work extremely hard to fight back. The Huskies would not find success until the third period when McKenzie Haberl '19 would tie the game up, beating the goalie just over the pad. A few moments later, Caelin Flaherty '18 would capitalize on the power play with a rebound goal, giving the Huskies a 2-1 lead. With just under two minutes to play, Vermont Academy would pull their goalie for the extra player. The Huskies would try to find the empty net but would ultimately give the puck up to Vermont who came down and scored, to tie the game with 46 seconds left. The Huskies also took a terrible penalty, which would need to be killed in the five-minute sudden-death overtime. Unfortunately, Vermont Academy scored on the power play just fourteen seconds in, sending the Huskies to the consolation game against Proctor Academy on Satuday at the Jake.
