Huge win for the Huskies over St. Paul's School

New Hampton defeated St. Paul's for the first time.
New Hampton was able to come out strong and score 3 goals in the first 8 minutes of the game. Meghan Evans scored the first goal with an assist from Jacqui Galea. Jacqui scored the next two goals with assists from Meghan and Colleen Harriman. St. Paul's was able to score a goal before the end of the first period. St. Paul's started to bring the heat against New Hampton, but the Huskies continued to stay focused and play smart hockey by keeping the puck out of the middle of the ice. Meghan scored her second goal of the game with a few minutes left in the second period. Zola Braswell got the assist on the goal. In the third period, the Huskies were very excited to be leading against a very strong team. St. Paul's was able to score and bring the lead down by two for the Huskies. Jacqui Galea was able to throw the puck on net with three minutes left in the game and it was able to sneak by the goalie. However, St. Paul's responded by getting another goal. The Huskies worked very hard to hold on to their lead and pick up a huge win. Averill McCorkle was amazing in net making 53 saves. Ellie Beaudet played defense, and she was recognized at the end of the game for her plays on defense and helping to keep St. Paul's to the outside in the defensive zone. Emma Thorsson showed a lot of hustle, and her line mates, Lili Xu and Bridget Conkling, worked extremely hard by her side. Nikki Bronson played on defense and was able to make some key stops against St. Paul's offense. It was a great win overall for the Huskies.
