Huskies with a hard fought 1-0 win against Holderness School

Averill McCorkle comes out big in net to get the shut-out win for the Huskies. 
NHS traveled to Holderness School for their first match-up of the season. During the first period it was a very close game. The Huskies outshot Holderness 11 to 5 in the first period, but no goals were scored. Weiwei Xiang came close a few times in front of the net just missing a pass across ice or a rebound. During the second period, again the Huskies were outshooting their opponent 10-5, but this time we were able to get one into the net. Jacqui Galea was able to get a shot on net, and her linemates fought for the rebound. Guoshunran Liu was finally able to knock it into the net. With the Huskies in the lead going into the third period, they continue to bring the pressure outshooting Holderness, but Holderness fought very hard. Averill McCorkle came up huge against a few break-aways. Zola Braswell was able to break up a few offensive opportunities on defense. Only playing in her second game of the season, Gillian Bonin played great position on ice. Meghan Evans had a few carries down ice, and was able to get some shots on net. Nikki Bronson, one of our defenseman, also had some nice carries. The Huskies were able to fight to the end, and hold on for the win. At the end of the game, Averill McCorkle was recognized for having an amazing game in net and getting the shut-out.
