NHS vs. Tabor

The Huskies would travel to face Tabor Academy, a team in which the Huskies had never beaten before. The Huskies would need to play smart and physical against such a talented team as the Sea Wolves. Olivia Sollows '19 would earn the start in net for the Huskies and look to have a solid performance.
In the first period of play, the Huskies would not come out as strong as they should have. Sollows made fifteen great saves, keeping the Huskies in the game. The Huskies would kill two penalties and earn one power-play in the first period but both teams remain scoreless. The Huskies had a couple of decent scoring opportunities but were unable to capitalize.
In the second period, Tabor would find the back of the net on a rebound, giving them a 1-0 lead. However, Lauren DeBlois '19 would rush the puck wide and send it to McKenzie Haberl '19 who would crash the net and put the puck past a quick Tabor goalie, tying the score at 1 a piece. The Huskies seemed to have the momentum and would continue to dominate the play but the period would end in a 1-1 tie.
In an action-packed third period, the Huskies would earn a 2-on-1, in which Haberl '19 would score again with assists by both Kelly Matthews '19 and DeBlois '19. The Huskies would find themselves on the penalty kill, in which Tabor would tie the game at 2. As the Huskies would have to kill another penalty, Savannah Norcross '18 would keep her feet moving and earn a breakaway opportunity. Norcross beat the Tabor goalie and the Huskies would take a 3-2 lead on a short-handed goal. Tabor would try to fight back but Kelly Matthews '19 would seize the opportunity to score an empty net goal, giving the Huskies the 4-2 victory.
