NHS Snowboarders Kick Off 2018 Season With Race @ Gunstock Mt.

L. Tobin
Freshman, Alexa Mailloux, proves her speed, and the boys end up in the middle of the pack.
T'was a beautiful day at Gunstock Mt. for our first race of the season. With very comfortable temperatures, and the sun shining over Lake Winnipesaukee in the background, the team was looking forward to slashing their first gates of the season. For many riders, this was their first ever competition on a snowboard.

Alexa Mailloux hit the gates first for the Huskies and ran her first run at 42.38 seconds. This run would prove to be the second fastest run of the whole day for the females. After slipping out on her second run, her combined time for the day was 91.79 seconds. This earned her a third place finish overall for the girls out of 10 total riders. Well done, Alexa.

The boys category consisted of almost 50 total riders. Junior, Ben DiGrande, finished in 18th overall with a combined time of 89 seconds. Senior, Ray Aley, finished 20th overall with a combined time of 91.68 seconds. Junior, Slaton "Tex" Fenci, finished 24th overall with a combined score of 94.38. Mason Howe was unable to race today because he was out sick. The boys finished 7th overall out of 9 total teams.

Next week is midterms for NHS so we will not be competing. Loon Mt. has been fantastic lately and riders are progressing and adding to their arsenal of tricks each week.
